after setting the desired heat temp/furnace stops, can you also set the low temp where furnace starts, & if so how low can you set it to start ?

The Hunter 40170 is not able to set a low, you only set the temperature that you want it to turn on. It does have the ability to adjust the "Span" from .6 to 3 degrees Fahrenheit so that it can cycle more or less often.
