MinkaAire WC212 Reviews

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great to have when you buy the fan This is a must for a ceiling fan. The fan came with a remote control but I like the wall control so it can't get lost or easily damaged. The negative is if you want to turn the little blue light off on the unit - you have to turn the entire fan/light functionality off. Also, the button to push to put the light on is a little small. If you want this unit to work along with the remote, you have to make sure they are on the same "code combination" and that if you have more than one Minka fan on the same floor - the other fan has to be on a different code combination or else the controls from one room with also control the fan in the other room.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from handy device I bouht this remote wall switch with the new ceiling fan from Lighting Direct. The remote works great once installed but that was easier said than done. It seems that this remote is too large in height to install in some steel wall boxes. I had to grind the steel wall box with Dremil Tool grinder so the remote would fit the box. Newer plastic boxes may not be an issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice to have item Item is a great convenience for those times when you can't find the fan remote, tucked in the sheets or under the bed. However, the light that is emitted from the wall switch is a tad too bright for a small room. I guess that light can be duplicated as a night light.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works with our Concept II's We bought a pair of these to have permanent wall controls for the Minka Aire Concept II fans in our bedrooms. It's significantly smaller than the handheld remote control that comes with the Minka Aire fans (as it is designed to fit in a Decora-style lightswitch cover), but otherwise works essentially the same way. It's a little cheesy looking and you have to show guests how it works before they can figure it out, but it definitely works.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Too bright Works fine, but the light on it is so bright it is ridiculous. I have electric tape covering it up for now, but I am going to be uninstalling it because I just cannot live with the light. The light is totally not necessary. Once again, a waste of money.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Okay; not sure we're utilizing to optimum capacity Bought the wall unit with our recent fan puchase (minkaaire concept ii 44 3 Blade 44" Flushmount Ceiling Fan - Light, Handheld Remote Control and Blades Included) and my husband couldn't figure out/doesn't believe the remote works with the wall display. Also wall display has a blue light which is a little bright at night but in order to keep fan on, the blue light is also displayed. Relatively easy to install yourself if you know a little about electric wiring. Nice product, nice looking and easy to use but the blue light at night and non-remote (to turn off light) make it only average for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Nice Works with the fan, easy to install, easy to use. Couldn't be happier. SO much better than mounting a remote control to the wall and hoping it doesn't get lost. Well Done Minka...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Designer friendly, Easy to install, love options We have an older version in another room, it has a green light...this new one has a less intrusive blue glow which is great & in style now....It was also very easy to install! The optional settings make it very convenient to use for different gatherings!

What size wall mox does the WCS212 need? Will it mount in a standard outdoor single gang box?

The MinkaAire WC212 does not require a box, it is surface mounted.

What is the procedure for switching frequencies on the receiver units when you are encountering interference?

You are going to have to remove cover from wall and there should be 4 switches on the back, set them in any sequence and then on the fan there is a receiver which looks like this: http://www.lightingdirect.com/tommy-bahama-tbsw03-electronic-fan-control-from-the-tommy-bahama-receiver-collection/p986537 Set the switches on this to that same frequence.

If used with a MinkaAire Concept II fan with light, can the WC212 turn the light off and on without also turning on the fan?

Yes, The MinkaAire WC212 controls the light and fan separately.

Bought wc212 and p001022500 followed installation instructions not sure if wall control should take up two wall switches or one and how do I know if the receiver and control are synced ?

The P001022500 is not the receiver for the artemis fan. The correct receiver you will need for that fan is P001021300A.

for remote wc212 there a two black wires both say not to connect to the white ground wire but wiring in my wall is one black one white how do I connect

The MinkaAire WC212 has tabs on the wires letting you know where you should connect the wires.

I have one of the older models of F516. Specifically my fan model is Model AC525 (F516) "BB". I believe it came with remote control model RC588TW. Will this wall control work with my fan?

The MinkaAire WC212 is the current one that goes with your fan, but if you have the older receiver (black one) you will then need the WC210.

I have two fans wired to a WC212, they turn in opposite direction. What can I do to make them turn in the same direction?

If they have lights they are suppose to be on two separate controls. You can reverse the direction on the motor itself however.

If you do not use the wc212 unit and wire the fran to a three speed fan dehummer switch nd the light to a separate switch how do you reverse the fan direction?

Please call the MinkaAire tech department at 951 735 9220, to inquire about the WC212. Thank you.

what is correct remote system for model F402-orb 42" gyro

The F402-orb includes the WC212 or you can add the RC212 handheld.

Will this control work with MinkaAire F648?

Thank you for your question. The MinkaAire WC212 is not 100% compatible with the Minka Aire F648. You will need a WC213 model number in order to control the F648.

Will this replace a wlc700?

The WLC700 is made by Savoy house so it is not recommended to replace that item with the MinkaAire WC212 as Minka Aire does not test their products with other manufacturers so there is no guarantee that it will work the same.

I am ordering a new MinkaAire fan and want the wall mount remote. Is the reciever part of the new fan or must it be purchased seperately?

The MinkaAire WC212 is the fan control only. The reciever is not included with the fan. Item P001021500A will need to be added to the order.

Is this the right switch for a Model F602 Gyro Fan?

The MinkaAire WC212 is the correct wall control for the Gyro F602.

We have the Taos by Minka Aire and with the touch control for model WC 220. Upon pulling the unit out of the walll it shows model # UG9040T. I need to know what control to purchase as ours shorted out.

The MinkaAire WC212 is not compatible with the WC 220 receiver, but the WC210 is compatible.

Do I have to buy a remote and a receiver?

If your fan does not already have a receiver you will need to buy both the remote and the receiver for the MinkaAire WC212.

Do I need two units if I have two fans in same room and want to control with one switch

The MinkaAire WC212 can be used for two fans.

Does a remote control for this have to be purchased separately?

The MinkaAire WC212 Wall Mounted Remote Control System comes with a remote control.

how do I wire this

The MinkaAire WC212 is going to have a receiver that is attached to the ceiling fan. The remote is not hard wired to the wall. It would simply sit on the wall as a light cover does.

I recently bought the WC212 as a replacement wall remote for my ceiling fan model AC-552(F601). However, the reciever and transmitter frequency setting mechinisms don't match. What is the correct wall unit model number I should order?

To determine what wall control you will need you want to look at your exhisting control. The led light will be either red or green. If it is green you need model WC212, if it is red you need model WC210. Minka happens to sell two types of these wall controls but they are specific to the receiver you are trying to use them with.

Will the WC212 work for my Minka Aire Concept F516-BN?

The MinkaAire WC212 is compatible with the F516-BN fan, and since it comes with the RC220 you won't need to order anything else but the WC212. Please let me know if I can do anything else for you.

Does the WC212 have to be hardwired to the fan (MinkaAire Concept II 44).

The MinkaAire WC212 is a remote wall switch so it does not hardwire into the fan.

Does WC212 include a receiver?

The MinkaAire WC212 is a wall control and does not require a receiver since it is hardwired to the fan.

I have an Acero F601 and an F518. Both run with an UC-9051 wall transmitter and an UC-7067RC receiver. Can I replace my old wall transmitter with the WC212?

The MinkaAire WC212 will work with your fans if you buy reciever p001021500a for each fan.

I'd like to mount a Gyro 42" where a light on a three way switch was originally intended to go. What accomodations do i I have to make for the WC212? Is it wireless, low voltage or go in place of a regular wall switch ?

The MinkaAire WC212 can be installed into a regular wall switch.

is this a universal remote that will interface with other manuf?

The MinkaAire WC212 is only designed to be used with MinkaAire fans.

Just bought a replacement wc212 and P001022500 receiver for my Minka Aire Artemis fan followed the installation instructions but fan won't work I have three switches in this room is the wall control suppose to take up one space or two and how do I know when the wall controls and receiver are synced?

The P001022500 is not the receiver for the artemis fan. The correct receiver you will need for that fan is P001021300A.

We are in need of a wall transmitter. Is this the same piece for the traditional gyro?

This would be the wall control transmitter that would be compatible with the Gyro.

what is the difference between wc212 and wc223?

The MinkaAire WC212 and WV223 may look identical but they are compatible with different ceiling fan models. To know which switch would work with your particular fan we would need to know the model number

Is it compatible with the F807 Viper?

The MinkaAire WC212 is not compatible with the F807 Viper.

Will the fan run when the light is off?

The MinkaAire WC212 will allow the fan to run with the light off.
